Final Exam LEADS

Who Lead: An unidentified male was robbed an beaten around 9 a.m. this morning in his apartment located in Mt. View.
Where Lead: At 2200 California Street a man was robbed and then beaten with a toilet seat by 2 males inside his apartment this morning.
What Lead: There was robbery this morning inside a man's apartment that resulted in the unidentified male being hospitalized.
How Lead: A man was beaten and hospitalized when two men had robbed him this morning around 9 a.m. at his apartment, 2200 California St.

In this case since the male's name was never released the best lead would be the WHAT lead because it describes the scene and the actions in more detail than leading without a name of the victim. What leads also give a better description of the scene of the crime and how it was executed.

LIfe Experience

I was standing in the walk way looking out at the ocean on another sunny day in Hawaii. All was normal on this day with big waves accompanied by tons of people. Little did I know that this day would challenge my body's ability to stay calm in a fight or flight situation. After getting a couple waves the last one that day change my entire outlook on life. First I was paddling and the next thing I know I am stuck in between the reef looking up at the glare of the sun shinning through the water. Not the normal day in paradise most people would expect.

During this time I spent underwater, which seemed like an eternity, I was wrestling with the thoughts of dying as well as staying calm so I could get myself out of this mess. I was taught when a situation like this occurs to keep your eyes open, look for a gap in the reef, and push off when there is a break in the waves. Training and actual experiences are two completely different situations and not matter how I trained I would never be ready for this day.

As I was gaining my composure and telling myself to stay calm so I can make it out I felt a sense of relief because the ocean is my second home. It took me a while to understand this but once I did I could feel the water begin to slow down and that is when I made the move. I shot out of this god forsaken hole in the reef and poked my head out of the water as if I were a sea turtle only to be struck by yet another on coming wave. Thankfully that wave took me close enough to shore so I was out of trouble. I was ALIVE!

Sitting there on the beach, broken board and cuts all over, I had a slight grin on my face. I know that I had probably become to confident in the ocean and she was just letting my know who was in charge. I sat there with looking at a sunset that, to me, was the most beautiful thing in the entire world with a beer in hand thinking about how the day change from the start to that moment. I will never forget this day for the rest of my life.

Sports Broadcast

The crowd of 10,000 saw the SaberCats defeat their rival the Arizona Rattlers 63-43.

The game, however, was overshadowed by the Arena Bowl trophy and banner presentation.

Mark Grieb was outstanding completing 22 of 33 passes for three touchdowns.

Steve Watson led the defense with 6 tackles 2 of those being sacks for a total of 9 yards.

The arena provided good scenery with the beloved saber kittens catching everyone’s eyes.

The defending champion SaberCats are en route to another fantastic seasons if they play the

way they did on Saturday.

Home Opener Success for SaberCats

On a night that was accompanied by the Arena Bowl trophy, the San Jose SaberCats did
not disappoint the crowd of about 13,000 in attendance Saturday night.

The beloved SaberCats defeated their number 1 rival the Arizona Rattlers in a back-and-forth
touchdown shootout, which was not decided until the closing minutes of the forth quarter.

There were many standout plays and players on this night but as usual the amazing accuracy
and patience of Mark Grieb completing 22 of his 33 pass attempts for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Even at the age of 34, Grieb is showing signs of youth by his elusive mobility and veteran
calmness in the pocket. The only blemishes on Grieb's stats that night were the two interceptions
he threw.

The last drive of the game that sealed the deal ended with a touchdown with 16 seconds left
in the game. The drive started with a fumble on the Arizona 4-yard line. Offense took over from
there was a run right through the Arizona defensive line for a 6 points.

The defense for the SaberCats was also spectacular coming up with 2 interceptions and 3 sacks
that left Rattler's quarterback Jeff Smoker hearing footsteps all night long.

The stars of the defense for the SaberCats were Steve Watson and Marquis Floyd each with
6 tackles with Watson credited for 2 sacks for -9 yards.

The night started out on the right foot as the Arena Bowl trophy was presented before kickoff
as well as the championship banner presentation, which was the SaberCats third of this century.

The SaberCats will bang heads with the Dallas Desperadoes at the HP Pavilion on Saturday
the 22nd with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Some weird AP Style things:
1) Do not use the word Okay, but Ok, Ok'd, Ok'ing and ok.
2) Only spelling out a number when it starts a sentence
3) Do not use metric system in writing where it is not accepted
4) Months can be abbreviated when using a date but must be spelled out when standing alone

About Me

My name is Aaron Moss, I am 22 years old and not getting any younger. I am originally from San Jose but I have also lived in Hawaii. I am a transfer student from University of Hawaii Manoa on Oahu.
I grew up surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding but also I played ice hockey for almost 12 years. I have traveled to tons of places around the world and I love to travel and go to new places.
I have been private schooled my entire life, which most people think is pretty weird but I liked it a lot. I went to St. Martins in San Jose and from there proceeded to go to St. Francis High School in Mt. View ( if you went to a rival school, do not hate because we were the best!).
I enjoy watching sports but most of all hockey because I played but I also worked for the San Jose Sharks for 6 years doing video work for the coaches and the scouts. It was a lot of fun learning how a professional team works, especially behind the scenes.
Well I hope you all learned enough about me. I'll see you in class.

Dona Nichol's Jour. 61 A class
